The golf industry has long prided itself on being innovative, but most of the effort was focused on appealing to an existing - and shrinking - population of recreational golfers. Rather than "fight of over the scraps left in the bloodied red ocean of competition", the most successfully innovative golf companies and organizations take a different approach. They embrace the business model known as Blue Ocean Strategy, where they create products/services/experiences that appeal to and unlock a vast open ocean of "non-golf customers", leaving the need for cutthroat competition behind. During this interactive hour long presentation/discussion, Colin Weston (host of The ModGolf Podcast, sport experience entrepreneur, startup community building and angel investor) will kick things off with his own entrepreneurial journey, followed by "What is Blue Ocean Strategy?" through the stories of five successful golf industry case studies. Colin will finish up by opening the floor up for audience questions about entrepreneurship, innovation and startup culture. You can listen to all five ModGolf Podcast episodes that make up the Blue Ocean Strategy case studies at their show page at www.mod.golf or subscribe to ModGolf Podcast for free on iTunes.
