Continuing Education
PGA Education is committed to providing PGA members with the most current research and information available for golf shop operations, player development programming, management and leadership skills, marketing and the use of social media. This strategic approach is to grow golf participation that is embraced by allied golf associations, golf equipment manufacturers, golf course owners and to promote professional development. Education of the entire industry - employers, manufacturers and allied professions - must also be undertaken to ensure a collaborative approach to this "re-set" of the golf experience for future generations of customers.
To assist PGA Professionals manage the vibrant schedule of Continuing Education offerings throughout the year The PGA of America lists program offerings by Career Path and strategic initiatives of the strategic plan – Golf 2.0. These four (4) career paths are: Golf Operations; Instruction; General Management; Player Development and Professional Enrichment.
The 2012 schedule of PGA Education Programs will extend the categories of the Online Library to The PGA Education Conference held in conjunction with the 2012 PGA Merchandise Show. The benefits to attendees include:
- Assist with scheduling your daily activities
- Identify "career specific education" programs that most directly benefit your job responsibilities
- Avoid "overlap" of "career specific education" programs at any one time slot
- Identify free time to attend programs outside the realm of your specific job responsibilities that are "cutting edge" topics you just have to learn about.
In order to confirm effectiveness and efficiency, PGA Education also currently uses web-based learning & human capital analytics technology from Knowledge Advisors which is implemented to improve the performance of PGA Professionals. This tool will complement the Speaker Evaluations which are completed on-site by Education Conference attendees. By tracking the transfer and application of knowledge gained from the many valuable presentations the PGA can add to the value of attending these Education Conferences every year.
The PGA Education Conference is a collaboration of The PGA of America, Association of Golf Merchandisers and PGA Golf Exhibitions and includes tracks and topics on the 12 focused initiatives of 3 strategies:
- Retain & Strengthen the Golfing Core
- Engage "Lapsed" Golfers
- Drive New Golfers
